The popular smartphone Samsung Galaxy S3 has sold over 30 million units worldwide. The S3 was released on May 30th, and it was the most anticipated phone which managed to attract over three million pre-orders. Also, Samsung has previously announced that it managed to sell 10 million terminals of the unit in just 2 months after the initial launch, meaning that they achieved the performance to break the previous record of the S2, which sold the same amount of units in 4 months.
Samsung is the only true rival of Apple, and the Galaxy range of smartphones is the iPhone’s only major competition. During the current year, Apple managed to sell 5 million units of the iPhone 5, which is a truly impressive performance. The S3 has some technological advantages over the latest iPhone model, including a quad-core processor, NFC technology (Near Field Communication), and a 4.8-inch screen, which is 0.8-inch bigger than what the iPhone offers.
Samsung currently dominates the mobile market segment, but some analysts claim that the ranking might change in 2013 due to the appearance of a new rival – HTC One X. Even so, 4 of the 10 positions in this ranking are currently occupied Samsung-branded models.
What does the Samsung Galaxy S3 offers besides its competitors and which of its qualities managed to stun the world? Well, in addition to the functions that are commonly known from the S2 (but were upgraded in this version), the Galaxy S3 comes with a variety of functions that add to its value. For instance, the innovative Direct Call – when you are ready to send a message but you quickly change your mind and want to call that person, you can do that just bringing the phone to your ear. Smart Stay and S Beam are other two groundbreaking technologies used in the S3. While the first one keeps the phone awake for as long as you watch it, the latter allows for convenient file transfer each time you place the phone back to back with a unit of its same kind.
Samsung also introduced a series of gestures that allow for a more convenient interaction phone interaction. For example, you can save screenshots just by dragging your hand across the screen, or you can stop playing a music track just by simply placing your palm on the screen.
Samsung’s TouchWiz interface (Android 4.0+) is also well designed, and is very user-friendly.
Given the current market conditions and the fact that there are very few rivals in his field, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is expected to continue its successful sales trend.
